THIS year the Westlakes under-13 netball team contested the State Age division two championships with the goal of placing in the top five.

State Age is the biggest competition of the year, involving many different teams from around the state, and is largely recognised as the most-competitive event for girls under the age of 15.

Teams from as far as Ballina and Young went to participate.

The Westlakes under-13s worked hard at carnivals and gruelling training sessions to improve their fitness and skills.

Their coach, Helen Grogan, also pushed the girls to extend themselves and build their strength and ability.

The girls left on June 30 and returned on July 2, achieving 15th place.

Even though they didn't reach their goal of a top-five position, each girl put in her best and achieved excellent form.
