MINOR premiers Gazas will meet BNC Cricketers 1 in the major semi-final of the Newcastle open netball championship this weekend after the pair finished the preliminary season in the top two.

Gazas had already secured the minor premiership before their 35-32 win over Mattara in the final round on Saturday.

BNC Cricketers 1 were in danger of finishing as low as third if they did not win over the weekend.

But they ensured a major semi-final match-up with Gazas, who finished the season with 32 points, after thrashing Temperzone 58-17 on Saturday.

BNC Cricketers 1 finished with 29 points and level with Nags Head, who beat Hotel Delany 48-32 but qualified for the major semi-final with a superior goal percentage.

Nags Head will play Junction Hotel (23 points) in the minor semi-final.
