Illawarra Wrap Up Minor Premiership

ILLAWARRA clinched the State League division five netball minor premiership with a big 52-33 win over Blue Mountains in Sydney last weekend.

The victory set up a semi-final battle with second-placed Wyong at Lidcombe on Saturday.

Blue Mountains went into the final round in third place and had beaten Illawarra by two points earlier in the year.

They actually led by one at the first break, but Illawarra stepped up the pace and settled into their game, forcing turnovers which were converted for a 25-18 lead at half-time.

Illawarra then dominated the final two terms on the back of some strong zone defence.
