A HUGE second-half display allowed Woonona Demons to cruise to victory over Shellharbour Sensations in 12A netball at Guest Park last weekend.

The Demons only led 13-10 at half-time, but shot clear of the Sensations over the final two terms to win 33-14.

Defender Alexandra Jones starred for the winners, while goal defence Sophie Boss stood out for Sensations.

In other 12A games, Corrimal Devils downed Wests Swifts 27-15 and Berkeley Cannonballs beat Helensburgh Gummi Bears 26-16.

Devils are leading the standings on 18 points, ahead of Demons (14), Sensations and Swifts (both 11), Berkeley (10), followed by Corrimal Roxy Chix and Helensburgh (both four).

Meantime, young referees have benefited from wearing vests as part of a program designed to cut back on the abuse officials cop from players and spectators.

The vest indicates that the umpire is only learning and should be treated with respect.

The initiative has gained plenty of positive feedback from referees and parents alike.
