Manning Nets Honours In State Team

NATARLIA Manning, from Hunter Sports High, has been chosen in the NSW Combined High Schools open girls netball team for her outstanding performances at the state titles in Lidcombe last week.

Kelsey Moss, from Whitebridge, and Jaye Sunerton, from Glendale, made it through to the possibles versus probables match.

Hunter finished in equal-third place after losing only two matches in the three-day competition.

Hunter beat the previously undefeated Riverina team in their second-last match to give Sydney South West and Sydney East the chance to fight for the title, which Sydney South West claimed.

? Five Hunter boys made the NSW CHS rugby union squad at the state titles held at Warringah last week.

James Keith and Winston Wilson, from Hunter Sports High, and Merewether's Ryan Ellis will join second-timers Marty Delore (Whitebridge) and Jay Strachan (Hunter Sports) in the squad.

After losing their first match 33-7 to Sydney East, Hunter beat North West Metro (38-22) and Western (55-7) to finish ninth overall.

? The Hunter primary boys Australian football team were decimated by injuries at the NSW PSSA Championships in Gosford last week.

In a battle of attrition at the three-day tournament, Hunter had one victory over Barrier to finish in 10th place.

? Wingham pupil Blake Sky was chosen in the Hunter boys touch team for the second year after trials at Newcastle City Touch Fields at Broadmeadow on Friday.

Katie Sampford (Singleton Heights) and Courtney Morris (Wingham Brush) made the girls side for the second time.

? Hunter sides will contest the NSW PSSA boys football (soccer) titles in Albury from today and the girls hockey titles in Unanderra.
