Goodman Illawarra's Shooting Star In State League Triumph

GOAL shooter Stella Goodman helped Illawarra storm home to beat Penrith 45-35 in division five State League netball action in Sydney last weekend.
Illawarra led by five at half-time, but they allowed Penrith to lock the scores at 29-29 by the end of the third quarter.At that point, coach Kerry Jones brought Goodman on at goal shooter and she took control in the circle, landing 11 from 12.Tessa Harris had a strong game at wing defence for a second straight week, while shooters Ashleigh Larsen (67 per cent) and Susie Scott (71 per cent) were steady.Meantime, Illawarra A1 heavyweights Vixens and Corrimal Cadets will do battle at Fred Finch Park on Saturday.Vixens were unbeaten in 2006, pipping Cadets 36-34 in the season finale. Both are yet to lose in 2007, with Vixens downing Wests Crunchies 59-39 last weekend.In other games, Wests Titans were too strong for Still Special, winning 41-16, while Corrimal Strikers ran out 56-24 winners over Woonona Menzies.Strikers play Still Special and Titans take on Woonona this weekend.In the previous round, Cadets beat Still Special 47-15, Vixens downed Strikers 39-25 and Crunchies overcame Woonona 37-24.
