THE Hunter Jaegers boast the second-most accurate goal shooting in the national netball league after five rounds.
The Jaegers finished last season with the second-worst team shooting percentage, having a success rate of 75.6 per cent.Only the AIS Canberra Darters were poorer they shot at 68.4 per cent in 2006.But this year, so far, it is a much different story. Hunter are converting 80.3 per cent of their attempts, second only to the Sydney Swifts (81.3 per cent).Karyn Bailey, who boasted just five national league appearances before this season, has the third-best individual shooting percentage in the league behind Melbourne Phoenix's Sharelle McMahon and Sydney Swift Julia Symons with 116 goals at 87 per cent in five matches.Alex Harding is shooting at 78.2 per cent, Lara Welham 77 per cent and Tiffany Lincoln 72 per cent.? Jaegers administrator Janelle Entwhistle moves on this week. Entwhistle has held the position with the Jaegers for the past 18 months but heads to Tasmania tomorrow to take up the role of Netball Tasmania general manager.? The Swifts will be without goal shooter and vice-captain Cath Cox when they challenge Perth in Sydney tomorrow night. Cox is having a mole on her shoulder removed today. The Australian shooter's absence will be a blow for the defending champions, who lost 68-39 to fellow competition heavyweights Phoenix on Sunday. It was the worst loss the Swifts have had in the 11 years of the national league, and 68 is the most goals ever scored against them.? Hunter United stretched their unbeaten streak in NSW State League division three to seven matches last weekend when they defeated Camden 42-35. They lead the competition on 14 points, one ahead of their round-eight foes Manly-Warringah.? Newcastle last week lost their semi-final to Lakeside and their hopes of back-to-back titles in the Interdistrict 15-years representative tournament played at Jaegers home games. Lakeside will meet Charlestown in the August 3 grand final.
