Cricketers No.1 Still Unbeaten

THE BNC Cricketers 1 seized the outright lead in the Newcastle open netball championship after a hard-fought 30-28 victory over Gazas Sportz on Saturday.

The two sides were unbeaten and shared the competition lead before squaring off in their round-five encounter at the weekend.

BNC Cricketers led 9-8 after a tight first quarter which set the tone for the whole game.

The margin remained just one goal at the main break, BNC Cricketers ahead 17-16.

But they outscored Gazas by four goals in the third period to take a five-goal buffer heading into the final period, leading 24-19.

Gazas came back at BNC Cricketers in the final quarter and outscored their opponents by three goals but could not bridge the gap.

Mattara Hotel beat Temperzone 44-35, Nags Head defeated Junction Hotel 41-36 and Hotel Delany won 46-38 against BNC Cricketers 2.
