THREE members of the Hunter Academy of Sport netball talent-development squad have been chosen to represent NSW in the national under-17 championships in Melbourne in April.
Kellyann Grayson, who plays for Charlestown, and Natarlia Manning and Samantha Poolman, who both play for Newcastle, have made the final 12-player squad, which was chosen from 180 players after a selection process dating back to November.A squad of 20 will be chosen after the national titles to spend a week training at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra.Another Hunter Academy player, Briony Bobeth, made it to the preliminary NSW squad of 18 but missed out on selection for the nationals.The academy netball squad have their next training session at the Maitland Federation Centre on Sunday from 9am to 12.30pm. Hunter Jaegers coach Jon Fletcher has been helping coach the squad. ? Organisations interested in promoting their sport by running coaching clinics or "come and try" days should contact Hunter Festival of Sport co-ordinator Kimberley Ridgeway at the Hunter Academy of Sport offices on 4926 4892. ? The academy's triathlon talent development squad, under the guidance of new coach Aaron Lean, have a training day at the Hunter Sports Centre at Glendale and Newcastle University's Forum on Saturday, March 10.
